WE CAN DANCE, 2021, a group exhibition in West Cork, Ireland.
WE CAN DANCE existed in two structures on a bowl shaped piece of land surrounded by trees. The first structure was a hand built wooden shed/ studio, the second – the shell of an unfinished timber house wrapped in weatherproof material. The structures were part of the experience for viewers. WCD highlighted the restraints around conventional display of artworks, as well as a visioning for community gathering during the Covid- 19 restrictions. An artist’s talk took place on Sherkin Island, off the coast of Cork with BAVA Visual art students, facilitated by TU Dublin lecturer and artist Jesse Jones. The exhibiting artists were; Mollie Douthit, Susan Montgomery, Aileen Murphy, Sinead Ni Mhaonaigh, Sarah O’Brien and Casey Walshe, curated and organized collectively.
